Research Report
Research reports created for clients are confidential, but here’s a sample of a report that I created based on my own family’s research. It provides an idea of how a report might be structured depending on the project’s objective. In this case, the report included the following: main narrative, family tree information, support documents and additional relevant content that provides historical context.

My research began as follows:
Family lore was that my great grandfather John J. Cahill worked for the railroad in Brooklyn, New York.

One day, his daughter Anna walked to the station to deliver his dinner and learned that there had been an accident.  She never saw her father again.

So the story went…but no one seemed to know any other details.

  • When did John die?

  • What caused his death?

  • What role did his occupation at the railroad play in his passing?

This prompted me to dig further and find out if there was any truth in this family story.
